The figure in the RWS deck appears to be quite still, but you sense that he’s almost vibrating with the impulse to leap into action. On the left, a Pony Express horse and rider are in full gallop to the next stop. Meanwhile, the telegraph is inexorably marching westward. Progress inevitably means change.
