Side-By-Side: 3 of Cups

For Day 32 of Side by Side, I drew the 3 of Cups. The main themes for this card are CELEBRATION and COMMUNITY. On the right, three women dance in a circle amid a bountiful harvest. On the left, three cup-bearing barbers share a moment of community with a customer. Peter Biggs was the first Black barbershop owner in Los Angeles. In the 19th Century, Black-owned barbershops were safe spaces for communities of color to gather, talk, and organize politically.
