For Day 14 of Side by Side, I drew the Queen of Wands. Jessie Benton Frémont was always our model for this fiery queen, because she had a firecracker personality and she was a consummate political strategist. The RWS queen sits in the desert on a throne decorated with lion heads. Both queens wear yellow gowns and are accompanied by black cats. Jessie’s cane sprouts leaves, a vase of sunflowers decorates her desk, and the stained glass window depicts a desert vista.
